What are the various types of hydraulic oils?
Hydraulic fluids are used in all industries, agricultural, mining and public works machinery, and represent over 10% of the world’s lubricant needs. Often considered as commodity oils, we forget that they are high-performance products, without which a machine cannot function.
There exists a large variety of hydraulic fluids, which have different properties in order to meet the requirements of the various applications of the industrial users.
There are some hydraulic fluids offering high-performance products which have numerous properties, the fruit of a quality formulation.
- Their properties are partly provided by the intrinsic quality of the base oils (deaeration, filterability, viscosity index), hence the importance of the selection of the raw materials.
- A quality additivation is necessary to guarantee good performance of the fluid over time.
- The increasing temperature and pressure constraints mean that increasingly higher performance fluids are proposed.
